Older Driver Free Roadshow on Saturday 10 July 2010 at Trinity Methodist Church, Commercial Street, Norton

It is our aim to keep our older drivers safely on the road for longer Drivers aged 50 and over are invited to attend a free roadshow. The event has been organised by North Yorkshire County Council, together with the 95 Alive York and North Yorkshire Safety Partnership and is funded through the Government Road Safety Grant. It is aimed at older motorists who wish to improve their driving skills and enjoy a stress free experience whilst driving. The roadshow will be run by friendly staff in a relaxed and informal setting between 10.00 and 15.00. There will be hosted display stands, opportunities to try a brake reaction tester, hazard perception test and have a mini basic eye check. Also people will be offered a chance to apply for a free 1 hour refresher drive to be taken at a later date. This is all optional and there is no pressure to take up the offers. Presentations focusing on the older motorist will be held at intervals during the day, the first one is at 10.15 then repeated at 11.45 and 13.30. The session will also provide information and advice for the older driver on topical issues such as eyesight requirements, medication and driving, licensing requirements, road signs and driving at night. Everyone attending will receive a free copy of an Older Driver DVD featuring veteran broadcaster Andy Kluz, and an Information for Older Drivers book, both made especially for older drivers in North Yorkshire.

There is no need to book a place just turn up in time for a presentation and to take a look at the stands.
