The 27th of October 2007 is one for the diary at in The Toy Shop at the Shopping Mall as they join the rest of the country in celebrating National Plasticine day.
On this day literally tens of thousands of free sample packs of Plasticine will be given out to children visiting toys shops throughout the country, enabling them to discover the creative fun to be had with this modelling compound which has been used by generations spanning 3 centuries.
No purchase is necessary - children simply turn up at the store and claim one of the free sample packs (whilst stocks last).
Plasticine is thought to be one of the oldest toy brands in the world and it has changed little since its invention by William Harbutt in the 1800s. Everyone remembers the classic 8 strips of Plasticine in a wallet - which at 99p is one of the nation’s favourite pocket money toys. Now there are also a variety of play-sets available to add to the modelling fun, with various tools, cutters and accessories to make Plasticine modelling even simpler. Of course, Plasticine is also known for more sophisticated model making as can be seen in the cult animation films made by Aardman, but in truth its superior model making qualities are accessible to all. So what are we waiting for? Join us a the Toy Shop in Malton Shopping Mall on Saturday 27th Oct 2007.
