Malton Christmas Lights switch on 2009Hi everybody.

As you may know the Malton Christmas lights are to be switched on this Friday at 6.00pm.

This will take place in front of St Michael's Church in the Market Place.

Before that we are having an afternoon of fun and promotion for the town.

We start at 2.00pm with a choir competition for choirs from local schools. At the last count there were 5 entries.

From 4.00pm we will have our second annual sleigh race. This is likely to be a number of heats and a final after a 'best sleigh' competition at 4.15pm.

Then there will be dancing music and games until 5.30. A prize giving and civic welcome then precedes the arrival of Father Christmas.

During the afternoon MinsterFM will be broadcasting their afternoon show from Malton and if you would like the presenter to visit your shop then please email before Thursday evening. (No Promises of a visit guaranteed)

Also there will be a reindeer hunt round various shops and a Christmas fair in St Michael's Church. Afterwards there is mulled wine and mince pies at Wills Bar followed by a live band.
