For 2009. The Malton Food Lover’s Festival will take place in the Market Square on Saturday May 30th. The event is part of the ‘Love Malton’ campaign of promotional activity designed to increase the profile of Malton, encouraging more people to visit, eat and shop in the town.
The aim of the Malton Food Lover’s Festival is to bring new and regular customers into Malton’s town centre for a specific event and then encourage them to visit local traders (shops, restaurants, bars and cafes) on the day.
The specific activities planned for the Malton Food Lover’s Festival include:
- A food theatre in the Market Square featuring local celebrity chef Andrew Pern (chef patron of the Star at Harome)
- Relocating the Farmer’s Market for the day to outside the Milton Room
- Outside broadcast from local radio station, Minster FM
A Malton shopping and eating guide will also be designed and distributed at the event, encouraging visitors to explore the town’s shops and eateries.
To maximise the economic potential of the event it is important that all of Malton’s traders get involved. Promotional materials are being produced that you can use in your establishment to capitalise on the event. The organisers are also looking for each trader to provide a special offer or in-store activity to coincide with the event giving people more reason to visit your establishment.
The Food Lover’s Festival will be supported by extensive PR and advertising throughout Yorkshire, further reinforcing the message that Malton is a special place for shopping, eating and drinking.
The event organisers will be contacting you in the next three weeks to discuss how you can participate and benefit from the event. However, if you would like to find out more now please contact Michael Lough on 07766 381339.
