  • Mrs Wright leaving Broughton to go to live in France in August 2002. brought 2 Medals in form of shields. One engraved The Myrtle Challenge Cup. - Harrogate and Malton 1897 the other one plain also with the Bar engraved Roy Brown January 1909 - Her Grandfather. Which she kept. She also had Bars belonging to J W Atkinson, December 1901. J W Atkinson, December 1906. W Holgate, - January 1897. & E H C Rose, February 1901.
  • 2nd February 1907 – Malton Curlers (Wm. I'Anson, J. Potter, W. Wilkinson, J. Christee) win cup in the International Bonspiel at Kandersteg, Switzerland.

  • 4th February 1907 – Return of Malton Curlers from Kandersteg, Fog Signals were placed on the rail and Malton White Star Bank played them up to the Royal Oak Hotel where they dined.
  • 7th February 1907 Mr. W. I'Anson and W. Roberts take a rink each to compete in Bonspiel between Scotland and England. Mr. I'Anson's rink win and Mr. Roberts loses by one point.
  • 3rd April 1907 Malton Canine Association first meeting. First show 29th August 1907 and Dissolved 28th April 1909.
  • 14th September 1907 Branch of I.L.P. Formed.
  • MALTON BREWSTER SESSIONS.
    9th February 1907.The following licences objected to Hare & Hounds, Old Talbot, Cross Keys, Prince of Wales, Criterion, Board and Scarboro Arms.
    5th March 1907 Adjourned Brewster Session at Malton, Following houses reported for compensation, Hare & Hounds, Cross Keys, Old Talbot and Workman's Arms.
    5th July 1907 N. R. Compensation Authority refuses the renewal of licences of Old Talbot, Scarboro Arms and the Hare & Hounds.
    13th March 1909 Malton Brewster Sessions objection to renewal of licence of Spotted Cow, Malton on ground of Betting, Board Inn, Yorkersgate, Malton recommended for compensation.

  • Postal Authorities agree to buy Mr. J. Potter's property in Wheelgate as site of New Post Office. The Post Office started in Chancery Lane, Yorkersgate then moved to Post Office Corner (Butcher Corner) and later moved up Yorkersgate.

  • RSPCA Humane Killer was tried at the Malton Slaughter House.
  • Lt. Gen. Baden Powell opened new range for Malton Rifle Club.

    Water Lane 26th March 1908, he gave a speech and declared the Range open. Handed over to the Club a Silver Cup given by Mrs Lupton for competition among the ladies of North and East Riding.
1909
  • Malton Constitutional Club decide to take the late Mr. F. Langborne's house in the Market Place, it was opened on 3rd November 1909 by Lord Helmsley M.P.
  • Red Cross Society Branch formed at Malton.
1910
  • Malton Golf Club, play takes place for 1st time on new course.
  • Welham Bowling Club, new green on Love Lane used for 1st time.
  • LABOUR EXCHANGE was opened at Malton in connection with the Hirings for the first time on 12th November 1910.
  • Miss A Pankhurst addresses Suffragette Meeting.
  • Bostock & Wombwell's Menagerie just before the hirings a man called Midgeley fell off an Elephant's back and subsequently died in Malton Hospital.
  • THE CATHOLIC CHAPEL was built in 1840/41 and was dedicated to St Mary. It was erected by the Rev. R. Garstang. 18th December 1910. Statue of St Joseph given by Mrs Mark Sykes and one of 'Our Lady' given by Father A. D'Hoogle in commemoration of 25 years priesthood – unveiled.
  • Brown’s Fire, 2nd March 1910. (The corner of Saville Street & Yorkersgate). The alarm was given, and by 9 o’clock the fire was burning briskly and making its way through the front windows next to Mr. Dodsworth’s house. The fire descended to Mr. Byass’s Dairy Shop below and there seemed every prospect of Mr. Soulby’s Wine & Spirit Stores taking hold. Mr Soulby and Mr. Brown were insured but Mr. Byass was not.
