History of Malton and Norton from 1300 to 1353, this era sees Edward II take possession of Malton Castle, however this was short lived as Robert the Bruce and the Scots defeated the English and once again Malton fell into Scottish hands as did much of Northern England. After this time the Castle slowly fell into ruin. Towards the latter part of 1300 Eustace Fitz Johns son William was alienated which led to the Atons coming into the Lordship of Malton and finally sees the introduction of the Eures having a share part of the Town.
